Avion Announces the A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System

Aviom, Inc. recently announced the availability of its debut product, the A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System. Finally there's an answer to the age-old problem of the bad monitor mix.

The A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System is a breakthrough in personal monitoring. It allows the performer to create a custom monitor mix tailored to his/her individual needs. Designed for use in live performance or in the studio, the A-16 Personal Mixer gives each performer control over channel volume, grouping, pan, stereo spread, and master volume. Each and every A-16 Personal Mixer in the system can create a unique monitor mix for a performer. Users can save and recall up to sixteen custom mixes saved as presets in their Personal Mixer. The stereo output from the Personal Monitor Mixing System can be used to drive floor wedge monitors, in-ear monitors, headphones, or spot monitors.

The A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System consists of two components, the rack mountable A-16T Transmitter and the table top or mic stand mounted A-16 personal Mixer. The Personal Monitor Mixing System uses a proprietary LAN technology called A-Net that was developed by Aviom. A-Net allows the system to transmit sixteen channels of high quality 24bit audio with virtually no latency over a single Category 5 (Cat-5) cable, the same cable you see being used in computer networks. There is no limit to the number of A-16 Personal Mixers that can be used in one system. Cable length between components in the system can be as long as 330 feet each.

Also announced was the first accessory product for use with the Personal Monitor Mixing System, the A-16D A-Net Distributor. The A-16D is designed to distribute the A-Net signal from the A-16T Transmitter to multiple A-16 Personal Mixers in parallel. It functions much like a hub does in a computer network. The design allows each connected Personal Mixer to draw DC power directly from a central location via the Cat-5 cable, eliminating the need for a separate power supply. The A-16D will be available soon; no shipping date has been released.
