Available Light, an internationally recognized experiential lighting design firm, announced today that Shahrzad Abtahi has joined the firm as a Principal in its Boston studio.
“With more than 15 years' experience across healthcare, corporate interiors, higher education, cultural projects, and institutional design, Shahrzad possesses an incredible combination of creative vision, technical expertise, and deep leadership experience. Her focus on collaboration, mentorship, and sustainable practices makes her an extraordinary resource to our team,” says Available Light CEO Steven Rosen.
Shahrzad’s approach to lighting is rooted in the belief that light can fundamentally shape how people perceive and experience a space. With a foundation in architectural engineering and interior architecture, Shahrzad brings both technical rigor and a human-centered design perspective to her work. “I have long admired the work and style of Available Light and am genuinely impressed with the team’s commitment to excellence and camaraderie. I have always believed that light has the power to shape not only how we see a space, but how we feel and respond to it,” reports Abtahi, an active member of the IALD who holds an MIT Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership. She is LC and CLD credentialed and is both LEED AP and WELL AP. She has received multiple IES National Awards of Merit and has presented at numerous national conferences. She has taught at the university level and is committed to supporting emerging designers.
