Australian event management software company EventsAIR has received a “significant” investment from private equity firm The Riverside Company, although financial details were not disclosed.
EventsAIR was founded over three decades ago by Trevor Gardiner and is a true end-to-end platform, offering solutions that enable organizers to manage everything from registration and housing to marketing and communications to attendee engagement. Its target market is professional conference organizers, corporations, industry associations, and educational institutions.
With this new investment, the Brisbane-based event tech company is targeting international expansion and will continue to evolve its product. In addition, it will be bringing Matthew Donegan-Ryan on board as the new CEO. Donegan-Ryan has previously worked for other event tech providers such as CrowdCompass, Cvent, and was most recently Head of Trade Shows at Hopin.
“Riverside views this investment as a highly compelling opportunity to build upon EventsAIR’s already impressive international footprint by targeting large and growing customer segments globally where the company has a clear competitive advantage,” said Riverside Managing Partner Simon Feiglin in a statement. “In addition, we will further enhance the management team.”
Gardiner, who has served as CEO since EventsAIR’s founding, will be moving to the role of Executive Director of Product Innovation. Riverside also noted that it will consider strategic mergers and acquisitions down the line.
Riverside is known for its investments in software and IT, having invested in over 200 companies in this sector since 1988, and has a team of experts dedicated to growing them. This investment proves yet again that although the virtual event boom may be fading, there is still a promising market for event tech as we move past the pandemic.
“Having quickly adapted to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, EventsAIR is ideally positioned to bring in a partner who can help accelerate our global growth ambitions,” said EventsAIR founder Trevor Gardiner in a statement. “We are delighted to be working with the Riverside team and look forward to this next exciting chapter in the company’s evolution.”
