August 1st ETCP Exam Deadline Approaching

Applicants who wish to take the first ETCP Entertainment Electrician examination must have their applications postmarked no later than August 1, 2006. Arena Rigging and Theatre Rigging candidates also need to have their applications sent by this date. Those who pass these rigorous tests will become ETCP Certified.

Please view the new ETCP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to learn more about the benefits and careers of electricians and riggers, as well as information on the industry. The FAQs also answer specific questions about the examinations. As always, if you would like more information or would like eligibility requirements or applications sent to you, please email ETCP certification director Katie Geraghty or call her at 212-244-1505.

Examinations will be held in October 2006 in Las Vegas, NV in conjunction with the LDI tradeshow. The electrical certifications are designed for highly experienced electricians (including leads, supervisors, and managers of entertainment electrical work). The rigging certifications are designed for highly experienced riggers (rigging supervisors, high steel riggers, fly-persons, etc). Candidates must meet eligibility requirements.

It is vital to ETCP that both the development process and the examinations themselves are professionally sound. The ETCP Council appointed these highly regarded subject matter experts (SMEs) to work with a firm contracted for psychometric (testing and measurement) services: Rick Baxter, Eric Bouchard, Jeanette Farmer, Ian Foulds, David Hatch, John Huntington, Tony Giovannetti, Dave Loftin, Jim Maloney, Alan Rowe, Nancy Shaw, and Ken Vannice, chair.
