Artistic Licence will be exhibiting at the 2004 Pro Light+Sound Exhibition in Frankfurt from March 31st to April 3rd. They will feature and premier new products, including new developments to their Pixi-Led range. The first of these products is Four-Play, a real-time record and playback lighting controller. Its 2048 channels are supported using either DMX512 or the Art-Net Ethernet protocol. Playback can be triggered by: front panel controls, remote contact closures, MIDI time-code tracking, real-time triggering or Art-Net Ethernet commands. Four-Play’s additional feature of Translation mode allows it to operate as a DMX512-to-Ethernet or Ethernet-to-DMX512 converter.
Artistic Licence has announced the world premier of Pixi-Bar, the latest addition to its Pixi-Led range, will be at ProLight + Sound. Pixi-Bar is a ground-row-style fixture and features 10 Pixi-Leds mounted linearly in an aluminium case. It has a multitude of mounting options and a wide variety of applications.
The Pixi-Led Display
Artistic Licence’s new Pixi-Led, launched at the Paris SIEL show, will also be on display. Aimed primarily at the architectural lighting market, Pixi-Led is a self-contained LED luminaire.
Pixi-Led fixtures will be displayed in a 10’x10’ matrix forming an array of 100 elements suspended from a truss beam using the Pixi-Power hook clamps. (The new Pixi-Power, is a "stand alone" power supply designed specifically for the Pixi-Led range.) This display will highlight the fixtures’ unique support system: their own data and power ribbon cable supports them, which allows for simplified installation.
Artistic Licence developed Pixi-Led with the revolutionary concept of fusing lighting and video, allowing designers to achieve a near limitless combination of effects. The fixtures use new 'point-source' RGB color mixing that creates both an exceptionally bright white light output and, with their consistent color-mixing ability, provides an enhanced color palette with a superior range of pastels and tints.
To ensure future compatibility, Pixi-Led is both DMX512-A and RDM compatible. It has both temperature and voltage sensors that report the status of each unit back to the controller to facilitate accurate monitoring of the units. The Pixi range of lighting fixtures and accessories are currently patent pending.
Color-Tramp
The Pixi-Led matrix is controlled by a Color-Tramp system. Color-Tramp is much more than just a lighting controller, it provides a full implementation of V1.0 Remote Device Management (RDM).
Color-Tramp is a new breed of lighting controller that communicates via the Art-Net Ethernet standard and implements all the functionality of RDM. This allows it to operate as both a lighting controller and an installation management system: one screen can show a topographic output mimic of the lighting, while another shows sensor status of all the fixtures.
During ProLight + Sound, the Color-Tramp’s all-new video rendering capability will be demonstrated on the Pixi-Led matrix. By allowing video and programmed lighting states to be combined, the Color-Tramp will offer a new set of tools for the lighting designer to create a wide range of spectacular effects.
