Apollo Turns 10

Apollo Design Technology, Inc.

, a leading manufacturer of custom gobos and distributor of other entertainment lighting effects products, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary.

Apollo began in 1992 in the home of Joel and Keersten Nichols. Today, Apollo employs 54 people and occupies a 26,000-sq.-ft. facility in Fort Wayne, IN. Apollo first focused on custom metal gobos, but the company soon expanded into standard metal gobos. Currently, Apollo produces and distributes award-winning ColourScenic™ glass gobos and other lighting accessories including ApolloGel, Roto-Q gobo rotators, and Spectra-Q color scrollers. The company recently supplied gobos to the 2002 Winter Olympics, Grammy Awards, and the Incubus concert tour.

"Apollo dealers have been very supportive, and I want to take this opportunity to thank them for their loyalty," said Joel Nichols. "I recognized back in 1992 that there was room for improvement when it came to supplying expendable products to dealers in the entertainment industry. My goal at the time was to raise the bar and provide these dealers with the quality products, prices, and service they deserved. Now, 10 years later, I can say that Apollo has made a positive impact on the industry."

Apollo has been awarded three ESTA Customer Service Awards, two Inc. 500 Awards, Entrepreneur of the Year for Northeast Indiana (Manufacturing Division), Industry Week Growing Companies Top 25: America’s Most Successful Small Manufacturers, the Kelly School of Business Growth 100 Award and the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce: Large Business of the Year.
