Advanced Optical Technologies, LLC (AOT), its subsidiary Renaissance Lighting, LLC, (RL) and Finelite, Inc. announced the resolution of AOT’s and RL's recently filed lawsuit against Finelite. The lawsuit alleged that Finelite’s S15 luminaire infringes upon AOT’s patented Constructive Occlusion Technology.

The detailed terms of the agreement remain confidential. However, in return for Finelite’s acknowledgement that its Series 15 luminaire utilizes AOT's Constructive Occlusion‚ technology, AOT and RL granted a non-exclusive license to Finelite that permits Finelite’s use of AOT’s patented technology in connection with its Series 15 luminaire. AOT and RL will receive payment of royalty fees on S15 sales. AOT and Finelite further agreed to explore how they can use AOT’s patented technologies to co-develop other high-performance luminaires.

AOT is committed to aggressively defending its extensive intellectual property portfolio in order to protect its business interests, as well as the interests of its licensees that use the Constructive Occlusion‚ technology.
