Live Design's fourth annual 31 Days Of Plots features one production per day during the month of December 2021, highlighting a different lighting design, from across theatre, concert tours, corporate events, live for broadcast, and more, as we wind down 2021 and head toward the new year.
Day 3 of 31 Days Of Plots 2021 focuses on Toby Keith: Country Comes To Town. "What was planned in the fall of 2019 to be an arena-sized show for the towns that never get the shows became, in 2021, the show that was going to lead the charge back everywhere," says Seth Jackson of Darkroom Creative, who shares production design credit with his partner Nathan Alves. Country Comes to Town became the first major production show back on the road. Toby was determined to get out there strategically and safely with a full arena show in tact. Country definitely came to town. Big stage, big show, big artist, and big audiences that came back in droves when nobody was quite certain they would. The entire design was built around getting a big look out of a few pieces. We tried to be very clever in thinking of the possibility of labor and local crew shortages so that the show would assemble with relative ease."
