Live Design's fourth annual 31 Days Of Plots features one production per day during the month of December 2021, highlighting a different lighting design, from across theatre, concert tours, corporate events, live for broadcast, and more, as we wind down 2021 and head toward the new year.
Day 7 of 31 Days Of Plots 2021 highlights a new opera film, with lighting design by Cindy Limauro: The Copper Queen, commissioned by Arizona Opera, and directed by CMU Drama alumna Crystal Manich, Class of 2004. "Critics are calling it a new genre in the world of opera," says Limauro. "Crystal also just won “Best First Time Female Filmmaker” at the Toronto Women International Film Festival. In addition, it is exciting as this production has an all-female gender direct/design team, the first for Arizona Opera."
