2023 Tony Award Nominations Announced

Funny Girl's Lea Michele and Myles Frost, a Tony winner for his role in MJ The Musical, have announced the nominees for the American Theatre Wing’s 76th Annual Tony Awards.

The design category has a first twofer in Tony history: Two brothers, Ben and Max Ringham, are nominated for Best Sound Design for two plays, A Doll's House and Prima Facie.  

This year, there are several nominees with multiple nods, lighting designer Natasha Katz is up for two awards, for Some Like It Hot and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street .scenic designer Scott Pask also has a nomination for Some Like It Hot, and another one for new musical Shucked and costume designer Emilio Sosa is up for Ain’t No Mo’ and Good Night, Oscar.

Legendary designer Ken Billington has Tony Award nominations stretching back to 1974 and The Visit, and was actually nominated for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street back in 1979, but didn't win until 1997 when he was honored for his work on Chicago. This year he is nominated for New York, New York.

The winners will be announced during a ceremony on Sunday, June 11, beginning at 6.30 pm ET.
