Live Design Expands Master Classes Brand, Announces BMC Dates

Live Design has announced changes and additions to its burgeoning Master Classes franchise, adding several new events to the calendar, new venues, and price structures for its existing events, and other exciting features.

First on the calendar will be the hugely successful Broadway Master Classes, to be held May 18-24 in New York City. The Broadway Sound and Projection Classes will take place in their usual venue at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts (May 19-21), while the Broadway Lighting Classes will occur in a new venue, the highly acclaimed Baryshnikov Arts Center. In addition, a special “Confidence Rate” will be unveiled this year, allowing prospective attendees to sign up for the classes at unprecedented prices prior to the announcement of the full faculty and curriculum for these now legendary events. Sound designer Abe Jacob, lighting designer Jules Fisher, and projection designer Zachary Borovay will serve as faculty chairs for their respective fields. Full details on this year’s BMC will be announced in the coming weeks.

Live Design will expand this successful brand further this year with three new events: the Dance Lighting Master Classes, the Concert Sound Master Classes, and the Scenic Master Classes. The first will be held in conjunction with the annual Fall For Dance event in New York City, with Clifton Taylor serving as creative consultant. The Concert Sound Classes will be held in conjunction with LDI Las Vegas in October. Further details on both events, plus the Scenic Master Classes, will be announced soon.

The addition of these events grows the total number of Master Classes each year to six. Other events include the Projection Master Classes at LDI, which will be held Oct. 20-21 in Las Vegas, as well as the Concert Lighting and Projection Master Classes, which just wrapped up its second phenomenal year last month in Los Angeles and will be held once again at USC this December.

“The ongoing success of the Broadway, Projection, and Concert Master Classes indicates a real hunger out there for intimate boutique events in which top designers, attendees, and manufacturers can get together and share ideas in a relaxed setting,” says David Johnson, publisher of Live Design and producer of the events. “We feel such boutique events are the way forward in connecting clients and customers, and we’re very excited about this year’s slate of events.”
