John Lee Beatty Joins SDMC Faculty

Tony Award-winner John Lee Beatty joins the faculty for the Live Design Scenic Design Master Classes to be held in New York City on October 2 & 3, 2012. He joins a distinguished list of designers headed by fellow Tony-winner David Gallo, as creative consultant.

One of theatre's most prolific designers, John Lee Beatty made his Broadway design debut in 1973, won a Tony for his outstanding sets for Talley's Folley in 1980, and Drama Desk Awards for Talley's Folly, The Fifth of July, Dinner At Eight, and Twentieth Century, as well as numerous nominations for his brilliant scenic concepts. Winner of American Theatre Wing Hewes Design Award (1976, 1978, 1988, 1995, 2003), and has won Obie, and Outer Critics Circle Awards; Theatre Hall of Fame. He is a graduate of Brown and Yale School of Drama.

His contribution to contemporary scenic design includes such productions as Twelfth Night in Central Park.
