Lighting and production designer Marc Janowitz’s work has been seen worldwide in concert venues, in theatres, and on television. His breadth of experience ranges from live concert touring to musical theatre and drama to events and concert films. He designs the lighting and production for numerous touring musical artists including the Decemberists, My Morning Jacket, Monsters of Folk, TV on the Radio, Trey Anastasio Band, Fun., She & Him, Passion Pit, Girl Talk, Fischerspooner, Matt and Kim, Tokyo Police Club, and Dr. Dog. For over 10 years, Janowitz collaborated with the critically acclaimed Blue Man Group, where he served on the design team for nearly all of their new projects and special events worldwide. In New York, he is involved with a myriad of downtown and off-Broadway groups including Camp Wanatachi (Director – Matt Cowart @ La Mama), Kiki Baby (Director – Lonny Price @ NYMF), Moisty the Snowman (NYMF) and Dai (Iris Bahr). He served as resident lighting designer for the Forbidden Broadway franchise for 12 years, resident designer for Theatre by the Blind, and resident designer for Bridge Club Productions. In Las Vegas, his projects include Blue Man Group Live at the Venetian, Blue Man Group Live at Luxor, Wayne Brady–Makin $*it Up, and Forbidden Vegas.
At the Live Design Concert Master Classes at USC in LA, December 3 & 4, 2012, Janowitz will present a solo session: Lighting the Indie Band, discussing his personal process and what is unique to the alternative mindset.
