BLMC and BPMC Focus On Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark will be the featured musical for the 2011 BLMC (Broadway Lighting Master Classes), as all attendees and sponsor will attend this ground-breaking new musical on Wednesday, May 25. LD Don Holder will present an in-depth critique of his lighting designs on Thursday, May 26 in a special session at Sardi’s, the famed Broadway restaurant

Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark will also be featured at the BPMC (Broadway Projection Master Classes) on Monday, May 23 at NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a two in-depth design and technology panels featuring Howard Werner of Lightswitch, who serves as projection coordinator and additional content designer for the musical. Additional designers include George Tsypin (sets), Kyle Cooper (projections), Eiko Ishioka (costumes) and Jonathan Deans (sound). Technology includes systems by PRG/Scenic Technologies and Fisher Technical Services.

Directed by Jule Taymor of Lion King fame, the $65 million musical, Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark, draws from over forty years of Marvel comic books for inspiration based on the mythic tale of Spider-Man. U2 superstars Bono & The Edge have created the music and lyrics.
