Meyer Sound and Live Design are pleased to announce the winners of the 2013 John and Helen Meyer Scholarship to the Live Design Broadway Sound Master Classes (BSMC). This is the third year that the scholarships are awarded, thanks to the generosity of Meyer Sound. The scholarship is available to promising sound designers from around the world. A total of six winners are selected including undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates (one to three years out of school).
The 2013 winners:
Jacqueline Anscombe, entertainment technology major, New York City College of Technology; Maggie Burke, Carnegie Mellon University, BFA Sound Design, Class of 2015 Alexandria Bottiglieri, entertainment technology major, New York City College of Technology; David Crawford, sound designer Los Angeles; Rachel Miller, Pennsylvania State University, Bachelor of Fine Arts: Theatre Design and Technology 2013; Torben Kärst, sound designer, Düsseldorf, Germany.
“The John and Helen Meyer Scholarships provide students— past, present and future— the opportunity to attend the Broadway Sound Master Classes and to experience the unique interplay of ideas and implementations going on in the theater today. I am grateful to John and Helen Meyer for their continuing generous support of this event,” says Abe Jacob, creative consultant for the BSMC, who helps select the winners.
