Live Nation and Verizon Announce Technology and Artist Innovation Partnership

As immersive and digital experiences have become more popular with fans and artists over the past couple years, the technology to power these experiences, like 5G connectivity, is in turn becoming increasingly important. Live entertainment giant Live Nation has officially entered into a multi-year partnership with Verizon to leverage its 5G network and build innovative experiences for fans.

The companies note that they will use the power of 5G to create new immersive experiences, both virtually and in person. The deal also includes the creation of a new ticket presale program, “First Access,” which will provide Verizon Up members with exclusive access to tickets to high-profile Live Nation promoted tours, including The Weeknd and Imagine Dragons.

“The partnership we’re announcing today is a continuation and deepening of Verizon’s long-standing relationship with Live Nation,” said Hans Vestberg, Chairman and CEO Verizon, in a statement. “Predicated on technology and our massive consumer base, this partnership will elevate the ecosystem of music – how fans engage, how artists produce and perform, and how venues deliver enhanced in-person experiences and scale them digitally.”

Over the past few months, Verizon has been busy deploying its 5G Ultra Wideband in sports stadiums and other venues around the country, and it will continue outfitting Live Nation clubs and theaters in the coming months to enable fans and artists to make the most of what the technology has to offer.

Fans at in-person events will have access to faster speeds than ever before, allowing them to stream, download content, and share photos and videos at super-high speeds. In addition, Verizon and Live Nation are plan to provide exclusive access to live streamed artist shows on Live Nation’s Veeps streaming platform via Verizon’s new +play platform, which will be available to Verizon customers and will be launching later this year.

“Verizon has always been a great partner and we’re excited to build something together by integrating their 5G technology into many of our venues,” added Michael Rapino, President and CEO of Live Nation. “With more connectivity than ever, we look forward to seeing what artists and fans create and share as they enjoy live shows together.”
