TRADE SHOW TURBULENCE

Anybody who thinks we need another trade show: think again. I used to pride myself on going to as many as humanly possible (one year I even made it to NOTTS and ExpoMusica in addition to the usual suspects!) Not this years folks. Even me, the intrepid traveler, The More Than 50,000 Miles Per Year Frequent Flyer can't possibly make it to them all.

Or can I? Let's see: right after the Architectural Lighting Master Classes in New York City on March 11 & 12, I'd have to take off for Rimini, Italy (not the easiest Italian city to get to, either) for SIB on March 13-16, then fly directly to Long Beach, CA for the first two days of USITT on March 18 and 19, then off to Las Vegas for the last two days of NSCA on March 20 and 21. I'd have a ten-day break before heading back to Las Vegas for the first two days of Lightfair on March 31 and April 1, and would need some sort of SST to get to Frankfurt, Germany for the last days of ProLight and Sound on April 2 & 3, then on to Sydney, Australia for Entech on April 5-7. I'd have to figure out where to collapse for a few days until heading back to Frankfurt for Light + Building, April 18-22 (okay so that's just for architectural types, but still). I'd be out of breath, but I could make it to every event the industry has thrown our way.

Think it's tough this month? Wait until June. That's when things get really sticky. The Broadway Lighting Master Classes in New York City, ABTT in London, and TiLE in Maastricht, all take place the week of June 15. When I figure that one out, I'll let you know. In the meantime, see you at the airport.
