AutoStage Act One Scenic Automation System

AutoStage has introduced the ActOne Scenic Automation System, a fully integrated combination of hardware and software that is configured specifically for your show requirements. No longer do you need to buy and assemble motors and equipment that you may not use again for years. You simply rent the ActOne system your show requires, for the time needed, and they configure and ship its state-of-the-art equipment to drive your scenery. The system enables you to control the precise movement of set or fly pieces easily and reliably performance after performance.

The ActOne system starts with a modular 19" rack that contains an industrial-grade computer that runs the Windows-based control software. A variety of consoles are available which offer different manual controls and familiar looking displays. Three-phase power is supplied to the rack through feeder cables that easily tie into your company switch. This power and the computer motor signals are then delivered to each drive device through a single custom cable eliminating typical cable clutter.

For drive devices, AutoStage offers a family of scenery drives, turntables, and lifts or you can attach and control your own motors through the Universal Machine Interface. Each drive is designed to be flexible for a variety of stage environments and can even be piggybacked together. The scenery drive has a unique, patented feature that automatically takes up slack and self-tensions the wire rope. Since you don't need to measure or cut the wire rope, installation is quick and secure.

The control software is easy to use, flexible and has a variety of built in safety and security features, such as password protection, pause buttons and custom acceleration and deceleration patterns. Stagehands can move set pieces by software pickles or entering the set piece's final positions. Up to 68 set pieces can be moved in a single cue. Cues can be saved, printed, edited, locked, and inserted. Error-checking logic prevents the design of conflicting cues. Once created, cues can be rehearsed and executed with the click of a mouse.

ActOne Scenic Automation Systems are flexible, dependable, easy to use and can be rented by the week with any combination of console, controller, and drive devices. The system gives you the control to realize your artistic goals at a price you can afford.

High End Systems ColorCommand

High End Systems has unveiled the ColorCommand, a color-changing PAR/washlight utilizing a patented color mixing system that incorporates automated changing of color and beam angle control in a fixture. The cost is comparable to a PAR can and scroller, but at just a fraction of the cost of automated lights. The dichroic color mixing system uses a patented design that incorporates two lenses and three-color wheels. The first lens splits the light into 25 separate beams, which pass through CMY color-mixing glass. The second lens rejoins and projects the light into a fully saturated, evenly colored beam. Because of the beam-splitting technology, the CMY color wheels are able to perform almost instantaneous color-changes (1/3 of a second to go from clear light to virtually any color imaginable). It can quickly — and quietly — bump between any of these colors or make slow, controlled fades — all through a uniform field.

Osram Photo-Optic HPR 575/115 Lamp

Osram Photo-Optic has introduced the patent pending HPR 575/115 high performance tungsten halogen lamp for theatrical, concert, and architectural applications. The HPR 575/115 lamp has been engineered for maximum light collection efficiency in parabolic and ellipsoidal fixtures. The specially positioned internal reflector reduces the lumens lost through the rear of the lamp, while increasing the forward lumens in PAR and ellipsoidal fixtures. The result is a sharper, more intense beam pattern and significantly higher light output. A secondary benefit of the reflector is reduced lamp seal temperature due to the effective deflection of infrared heat. Increased light output means fewer fixtures required and reduced energy consumption.

iMatte iSkia

iMatte Inc., sister company to the Ultimatte Corporation, introduces the first of its products: iSkia (Greek for The Shadow.) It is a hardware device that interfaces between the host computer and projector. It allows the image to be projected on the screen but not on the presenter. The elimination of dangerously blinding light and distracting projected graphics on the presenter creates a presentation that feels completely natural. iSkia requires no special software on the presenter's computer, works with any projector, and is interactive. iSkia generates a mask to selectively inhibit the projected image, which also enables Leading Edge, which utilizes this mask to control the computer's cursor to follow the presenter's hand, making it easy to underline, drag or highlight presentation elements. Leading Edge requires no additional hardware on or near the screen, unlike other systems.
