LRC announces fiber seminar

Troy, NY-based Lighting Research Center (LRC), affiliated with Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), will next month offer a three-day seminar designed to explore fiber from aesthetic and technical perspectives. Attendees will also assemble a fiber-optic lighting system and learn installation techniques and tricks of the trade.

Dr. Narendran, research director for the LRC and the author and publisher of numerous papers, has developed the seminar, designed to cover all aspects of fiber-optic design and installation. Among the subjects to be explored are: explanations of components and systems, design considerations, preparing specifications, and successful installation practices. The seminar will also feature a large number of demonstrations and a hands-on installation workshop, including exterior applications.

Presenting this information along with Dr. Narendran will be Janet Lennox Moyer, a noted lighting designer, instructor, and author of The Landscape Lighting Book; and Howard M. Brandston, an adjunct professor of architecture at RPI and a fellow of both the International Association of Lighting Designers and the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America. The seminar is scheduled for June 23-25 at the LRC. Phone 518/276-8716 for detailed information, or e-mail requests to [email protected].
