During this year's Golden Mask Awards — Sweden's equivalent to the Tonys or Oliviers — light designer Palle Palmé was presented with a special award for his contribution to Swedish theatre during his career thus far. It's been 20 years since another lighting designer was awarded similarly.
The presenter noted, “With a secure hand, he lights up our environment on small stages to big arenas, both in Sweden and abroad. Year after year, his lights shine in the darkness and blind us with striking stage pictures where he, in a very sensitive and skilful way, strengthens and develops the action on stage. He is a master of lights!”
