ESTA's Behind The Scenes Benefits Industry Pros In Need

During ETS-LDI in November, The ESTA (Entertainment Services and Technology Association) Foundation announced the establishment of Behind the Scenes, an initiative to provide industry members with financial support if ever seriously ill or injured. To kick off the effort, the Altman Family immediately announced a $125,000 Challenge Grant, promising to match all pledges and funds raised in the first year, dollar for dollar, up to $125,000.

At LDI alone (November 11-13), almost $40,000 was raised, including a generous donation from Vivian and George Gill, owners of Stage Equipment & Lighting. Rose Brand and Scharff Weisberg have also made significant pledges to the fund.

A raffle drawing held by ESTA during the show helped reach the $40,000 mark, with the key item being a Harley-Davidson Sportster XL 883, won by Tina Wright of Rose Brand. The raffle was inspired by The Long Reach Long Riders' annual cross-country motorcycle ride, which takes place in July.

Individuals or companies can support Behind the Scenes by making tax-deductible donations online (www.estafoundation.org) or by calling 212-244-1421.
