ESTA draft standards available for review

The Entertainment Services and Technology Association has announced that two of its draft standards are available for review. The two draft standards are "E1.2: Entertainment Technology--Design, Manufacture, and Use of Aluminum Trusses and Towers" and "E1.4: Entertainment Technology--Manual Counterweight Flying Systems."

E1.2 describes the design, manufacture, and use of aluminum trusses and towers in the entertainment industry, while E1.4 describes the construction and proper installation of manually powered counterweight rigging systems, including systems using sandbags for counterweights.

Public review and comment is being sought by ESTA so that the draft standards may reflect the consensus of informed opinion in the industry. The formal public review periods will end on September 30. Copies of the draft standards may be obtained by contacting: Technical Standards Manager, ESTA, 875 Sixth Avenue, Suite 2302, New York, NY 10001; the fax number is 212/244-1502.

The standards are projects of the Truss and Rigging Working Group, part of the ANSI-accredited standards committee E1, "Safety and Compatibility of Entertainment Technical Equipment and Practices." ESTA is the secretariat for accredited standards committee E1, and provides administrative support to the committee.
