The Lighting Controls Association (LCA), administered by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), has published a series of white papers on its website, www.AboutLightingControls.org, addressing a range of lighting and energy management issues. These papers are available free of charge and are useful for building owners and managers, specifiers, contractors, and other facility professionals who are interested in energy efficiency and environmentally responsible design.

To access these papers, go to the website and click on the “Education” button. The titles are listed under the “Key Issues” headline. Topics include “Energy Efficiency Programs Evolve at Utility and State Level,” “Upcoming Energy Legislation to Offer Tax Deduction,” “Finding the Benefit of Energy-Efficient Lighting Upgrades,” and “Green Design.” The articles include charts and graphs and useful weblinks to government agencies and other organizations.

All of the LCA's white papers are written by Craig DiLouie, principal of ZING Communications, who is the author of hundreds of articles and four books on electrical systems design, lighting design, management, maintenance, and energy efficiency.

The LCA was founded to provide education about lighting energy management and control technology via its website, which also contains research, products, projects, and a public forum.
