Design Show

New York University's Tisch School of the Arts Department of Design for Stage and Film will present the work of 21 set, costume, and lighting designers at its annual exhibit, Design Show 99, this month. The gallery-style show will commence with a reception on May 4 from 5-8pm, and run through May 12, with open daily viewings from 12-8pm.

Designs for realized productions and studio projects for theatre, film, and dance, in a wide variety of media--production photos, scale models, drafting, paintings, costume sketches, film clips, actual costumes--will be on display at the show. Featured will be the work of members of the graduating class in collaboration with students from the Tisch departments of Graduate Acting, Dance, Undergraduate Drama, and Film, as well as productions from Columbia University and the Juilliard School. Design work from many Off Off Broadway and workshop productions will also be on display.

Attending the opening reception has long been a tradition for producers, directors, designers, industry professionals, and prospective students. The exhibit is a great opportunity to see first-hand some of the emerging talent in the business; the reception offers a chance to meet the graduates and discuss their work.

Design Show 99 will be on display at Tisch School of the Arts Department of Design for Stage and Film, 721 Broadway (between Waverly and Washington Places), third floor. Admission is free and open to the public. For more information, call: (212) 998-1950.
