Live Design has named its top products of the past year again. Chosen by our panels of prestigious judges in three categories—lighting, projection, and sound—several months were spent debating the Live Design 2016-2017 Products Of The Year.
City Theatrical’s DMXcat™ system, called a “super cool gadget” by one of our judges, was made to communicate DMX/RDM to a smartphone, for control or testing. Aimed at the theatrical and studio lighting markets, the system comprises a small, battery-powered hardware interface that pairs via Bluetooth LE technology to the user’s device, up to 50’ away, providing access to various mobile applications and functionality. A 5-pin XLRF connector/cable assembly allows it to be connected to a point in a DMX data chain to allow testing and or control of the various DMX/RDM channel functions, and the unit is charged using a standard USB to Micro-USB cable and charger.

Products of the year will be presented along with the Live Design Achievement Awards and the tenth annual Excellence in Live Design Awards during a ceremony, sponsored by GLP and Meyer Sound, on June 12 in New York.
