Lighting Product Of The Year, Luminaire: PRG Best Boy 4000 Spot

PRG’s Best Boy has been called the “Swiss army knife” of luminaires by more than one designer or reviewer. In fact, that term came up quite a bit among our judges, along with comments like “great framing, relatively low power consumption, relatively low noise, and really nice movement.” In his first look at the fixture, designer Patrick Dierson noted in a review for LD of the Best Boy, “With 21,000 lumens of output, this 700W lamp fixture is only pulling a total of 5 amps at 208V, and that’s with every motor inside of it twirling at full boogie.” He adds that, “In even more of an astounding move, they’ve put a framing system in the unit and kept the traditional iris mechanism. Both are smooth, fast, and quiet.
