2007 Courses Offered By ETCP Recognized Trainers

Continued training and professional development activities are essential in the changing entertainment technology environment. The LDInstitute presents a great opportunity for ETCP Certificants to take courses that offer twice as many renewal credits towards their recertification. These courses are offered in November at LDI 2007, which is held this year in Orlando, FL.

Stage Rigging Fundamentals
ETCP Recognized Trainer: Jay O. Glerum
Date & Time: Thursday, November 15, 2007 – 8:30am to 5:30pm
Cost: $395 ($495 if registering after 10/19/07)
Target Audience: Anyone who wants to learn the essentials of stage rigging.
Seminar Highlights: The course will cover the essentials of rigging as follows: The physics and metallurgy of rigging, hardware selection and application, and counterweight system operation procedures.

Tomcat USA’s Two-Day Hoist and Truss Workshop
ETCP Recognized Training Program: Don Dimitroff, Morgan Neff, and Keith Bohn
Date & Time: Wednesday and Thursday, November 14 and 15, 2007 – 9:30am to 5:30pm
Cost: $595 ($695 if registering after 10/19/07)
Target Audience: Anyone who works above ground. Users or specifiers of aluminum truss; production riggers, motors techs and anyone who owns and uses CM motors.
Seminar Highlights: Basics of truss theory; practical information about truss usage and loading, with an emphasis on safety; Basics for truss inspection; equipment, regulations, and programs regarding fall protection; troubleshooting and maintenance of one-ton hoist motors.

Arena Math Fundamentals

Date & Time: Friday, November 16, 2007 – 8:30am to 5:30pm

Target Audience: Active riggers who want to learn the essentials of rigging math.
Seminar Highlights: Determining the forces at the ends of a span, determining bridle leg lengths, determining forces on a bridle leg, cantilever force calculations, vector calculations, and an interactive demonstration.

Essential Electrical Training: Setting up Control Systems
ETCP Recognized Trainer: Richard Cadena
Date & Time: Thursday, November 15, 2007 – 9:30am to 5:30pm
Cost: $395 ($495 if registering after 10/19/07)
Target Audience: This is an intermediate to advanced course for people who know the basics of data distribution and want to gain additional knowledge, techniques and theory.
Seminar Highlights: Hands-on interconnection of data distribution elements, exploration of new technologies for networking, background theory and applications of networking, advanced theory for wireless DMX.

In addition to the courses listed above, Jay O. Glerum offers a session regarding wire rope, which is also available for twice as many renewal credits.
