Twinkle, Twinkle Rising Star, Nominate One And They'll Go Far

Know any designers who are quickly scaling the ladders during their first four years of professional work after completion of their highest degree? Do they design lighting, projection, sound, or scenery? Then you should nominate him or her for the 2015 Rising Star Award!

Established by LDI/Live Design, the Rising Star Award is given annually to a young professional at the beginning of his or her career. "The Rising Star Award is one of the ways we look toward the next generation and support the work of the next crop of great designers," says David Johnson, publisher of Live Design.

Nominations close August 22, and portfolios are due September 1, 2014. The Rising Star Award will be presented at the 55th USITT Annual Conference & Stage Expo in Cincinnati, Ohio. Read through the criteria below and then nominate your rising star!

Eligibility And Criteria

  • Current USITT members are invited to nominate deserving young professionals for this award.
  • Nominees must be in their first four years of professional (non-academic) work following the completion of their highest degree.
  • Successful nominees will demonstrate their professional accomplishments through the submission of a current professional resume/bio or web site, submission of up to eight (8) supporting documents of their work, and two letters of recommendation.
  • Nominees are judged on their range of knowledge displayed and the best integration of skills, craft, and artistry.
  • Award winners receive $1,000, a one-year USITT Individual membership, and a complimentary registration to the Annual Conference & Stage Expo.
