LDI2019 Announces the First Annual LDI 5K Fun Run

Live Design/LDI announces the first annual LDI 5K Fun Run to be held Friday, November 22 from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. during the LDI2019 Tradeshow and Conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center. All proceeds of the Fun Run will benefit the Behind the Scenes charity, which provides financial assistance to entertainment technology professionals who are seriously ill or injured.

With a start and finish near the North Hall of the LVCC, Fun Run will serve post-run beer, water, and donuts, courtesy of Ambersphere Solutions Ltd, the exclusive UK sales, support, service, and training center for Astera, Ayrton, MA Lighting, Robert Juliat, and Zactrack entertainment lighting products.

Fun Run co-chair and sales director for Ambersphere Solutions, Philip Norfolk enjoyed honoring designers and their impressive work at the inaugural KOI-USA Awards ceremony last year, but this year, wanted to help organize an event that would support industry professionals who need financial assistance. “The wine and cocktails flow, people laugh and embrace, stories are told, and friendships rekindled or formed. The first KOI-USA Awards ceremony was a glittering and happy event, yet there are those in our industry who need support,” he said. “They need it that very night, or perhaps they will need it tomorrow night, or it might not be ‘they’ but, in fact, you.”

Norfolk hatched the idea for the 5K after participating in a run organized outside of Las Vegas one morning during LDI. “When I, perhaps slightly worse for wear, suggested that I'd buy the beer and donuts if we did a 5K run for charity at the next LDI, I was rather hoping that two Advil and a night's sleep later would take my brilliant idea and quietly dispose of it, like all my other ideas, but no. So join in. Or join up. Or turn up. But don't turn in. Run. And therefore give. Or jog. Or walk. Or skip. I'll even allow dancing, but turn up. I'll be there, and can you imagine how smug you’ll feel on the show floor later? If I have another idea, I promise to keep it to myself. Beer's on me.”

“What better way to start the first day of LDI than with a relaxed run with friends, beer, and donuts?” said Fun Run co-chair Marian Sandberg, content director for Live Design. “Best yet, all the proceeds will benefit one of the most important charities in the industry.”
