LDI2008 Offers Exclusive Site-Specific Training In Las Vegas

An exciting part of the LDInstitute at LDI2008 is a series of exclusive site-specific training sessions developed expressly for LDI. Celebrating its 21st edition October 20-26, 2008 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, LDI has always been a leader in top-level professional training. “The site-specific training sessions take our professional training to the next level,” says Ellen Lampert-Gréaux, LDI conference manager. “By working closely with Cirque du Soleil and The Wynn Resort, we are able to offer a new kind of training that far surpasses anything a classroom has to offer.”

The courses offered in conjunction with Cirque du Soleil include:
Spend a Day with Cirque du Soleil: A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to spend the day with some of the world’s top technicians behind the scenes at a Cirque du Soleil show. Attendees will spend a day job shadowing Cirque du Soleil technicians. Get up-close and personal with the maintenance of the equipment, rehearsals, even the run of a show. A small group of eight attendees will be assigned on-site to one of the following areas: automation, rigging, lighting, projections, and audio. Stay backstage throughout the first show and watch the action first hand!

Cirque du Soleil: Preparing the Lighting Grid at KA
Go backstage at KA, and learn about maintaining the largest lighting grid and the most complex preset in Cirque du Soleil. In this extraordinary opportunity to be a part of the lighting lamp check and preset of KA, attendees will follow the lighting technicians and gain an understanding of importance of the elements included in the lamp check and will have the inside perspective of being a part of the preset.

And at The Wynn Las Vegas, attendees will spend the day in an intimate aqua theater in-the-round built for Le Reve, a “water” show featuring aerial acrobatics, provocative choreography and artistic athleticism with a cast of 85 and live music—and recently re-lit by Tony Award-winning LDs Jules Fisher and Peggy Eisenhauer. The morning covers the technical prowess and control systems of the theatre. After lunch, the group will move on to the Lake of Dreams, with its sophisticated automation, projection, and under-water color-changing lights.
