5 Light Shows From LDI2018

(Mark Doyle for Live Design/LDI) Robe light show at LDI2018

It has been almost a month since LDI2018, the 30th anniversary of the leading conference and tradeshow for live design professionals from all around the globe. Over 14,000 registered for the event, which featured 230,000+ square feet of exhibits including LDI: Live Outside, 360+ exhibitors with a wide range of new products launched at the show, and 100+ conference and professional training sessions.

We think it is about time to relive that exhilarating event of lights, lasers, screens, loudspeakers, fog, bubbles, fog in bubbles, and more cutting-edge gear. Check out these light shows that some of the LDI exhibitors have shared online. Whether you were there or not, they're still fun to watch! Enjoy.

If the narrative doesn't have you hooked, then the fire dance will.

VIDEO: Introducing GDTF & MVR

Meet the open file format that’s revolutionizing entertainment industry workflows.

Together, GDTF and MVR are a free open standard file format that ensures lighting fixtures work the first time, every time. This non-proprietary data exchange keeps changes synchronized, whether it’s moving from CAD to console or from console back to CAD. Watch our video to learn more.

A range of music and a range of looks rounds out this light show, programmed by Luis Rojo Corona.

CAST Software

For this performance, CAST worked with dreamlaser, Notch VFX, Panasonic Corporation, L-Acoustics, LUMINEX, and disguise to create an immersive experience, to showcase not only BlackTrax' capabilities to track VFX and lights in real-time, but also audio. CAST won Best Small Booth at LDI for their demonstration.

Check out GLP's light show demo of their KNV system, with lighting design by Matt Shimamoto. GLP won Best Large Booth for their excellent demos and presentation of a wide range of products.

Last, but certainly not least, is Ayrton's super-impactful and energetic light show, designed by Aron Altmark, which won Most Creative Use of Light at LDI2018.
