When Nik Wallenda walked a tightrope across Masaya Volcano in Nicaragua on the night of March 4, Steven Brill, Paul Lohr, and Anna Jones of Lighting Design Group were tasked to not only illuminate the walk, but also to showcase the beautiful volcano. LDG utilized over 100 large HMI fixtures.

But…making the performer look good while also creating interestingly lit backgrounds requires careful planning, consummate execution, and a pro’s knowledge of lighting for television.
