Lighting Design for The 92nd Academy Awards

A judging panel of entertainment professionals shortlisted Bob Dickinson & Noah Mitz's design for The 92nd Academy Awards for the Awards Show Lighting Award in the Live for Broadcast category in Live Design's 2020 Design Achievement Awards. Vote for the most outstanding projects now!

The 2020 Oscars were broadcast live on February 9, from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with lighting designers Bob Dickinson and Noah Mitz of Full Flood illuminating the illustrious presenters and winners, as well as the glamorous new set design by Jason Sherwood. The two LDs utilized an impressive array of lighting gear, provided by PRG, including over 750 LEDs, and nearly 800 conventionals.

"The perfection of the lighting on this show represents the gold standard for large-scale and high pressure live-live design execution. Every presenter, performer, and audience member looks their Hollywood best for close-ups and the grand wide shots. Backgrounds, from scenery to interior architectural details, are toned beautifully and, thanks to the lighting, appear in excellent layering to the foregrounds and talent. The performance pieces are all lit gorgeously." — Jeff Ravitz, lighting designer and judge for the Design Achievement Awards
