Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral Opens Community and Entertainment Center

"The Riverside EpiCenter, built by Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral, will be independently operated and offer a faith-based spin on entertainment that's open to anyone regardless of their religion," said general manager Patrick McGrew. The facility, which broke ground in June 2012 and opened January 4, 2014, includes a 600-seat auditorium for plays and other productions, a six-lane bowling alley, youth center with arcade and computer stations, recording and dance studios, café and food court with three food vendors.

The Rev. Chris Boyd, pastor of Word of Faith Family Worship Cathedral, said the idea was to combine a number of different activities and attractions to create a true community atmosphere. Boyd said the area's reputation of high crime is "no secret" and though south Cobb's crime rate wasn't a direct consideration in the building of the center, there's a need for positive alternatives on the corridor.

Sustainable design and construction techniques were used throughout the project, which is seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Silver certification.   The building, originally built as a Sam's Club, was most recently a Garden Ridge store and served as Word of Faith's sanctuary while its permanent building was under construction.
