DiGiCo/Soundtracs Wins Queen's Award

DiGiCo/Soundtracs Limited has received a Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for innovation in the design of their D5 Live series of digital mixing consoles.

Hailed as the UK’s most prestigious awards for business performance, the Queen's Awards recognize outstanding achievement by UK companies in trade, innovation and sustainable development. The Grant of Appointment and Award was presented to DiGiCo’s managing director Bob Doyle at a special ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The award recognizes DiGiCo’s commitment to extensive research into the requirements of live audio engineers. Among the key features that clinched the judges’ decision were the intuitive user interface, small size and light weight, an almost halving of power consumption compared to its analogue counterparts, as well as the digital technology that allows a user to recall settings to the surface instantly, and DiGiCo’s pioneering use of a USB data key to allow complex system configurations to be stored onto portable computer media and transferred worldwide.

“It was a thrilling experience receiving the Queen’s Award for Innovation on behalf of DiGiCo and being invited to Buckingham Palace for a grand reception hosted by our Queen Elizabeth in the Gallery, a huge long room on the second floor with enough oil paintings around the walls to boost the economy of Paraguay!” says Doyle. “I was also lucky enough to meet the Queen and Prince Philip and exchange a few words with them about DiGiCo. It is indeed an honor to be presented with this prestigious award reflecting the hard work and dedication of our team at DiGiCo.”
