Rose Brand will officially launch their new Panorama Digital Scenic Server at the USITT show held March 29 to April 1 in Louisville, KY.
By combining ArKaos VJ DMX Media Server Software with optimized hardware, Rose Brand has created a highly-capable, but affordable media server. The servers are capable of driving projectors, plasma displays, SoftLED draperies and any other product that accepts a video input.
“LEDs and media servers and the other technologies that we are seeing everyday are changing the nature of scenic design,” says George Jacobstein, Rose Brand president. “We created Panorama with the idea that we could bring some of these capabilities to a broader range of customers.
Jacobstein added that the Panorama is “an ideal solution for universities, houses of worship, regional theaters, or any organization where the skills and vision sometimes outpace the budget.”
Panorama had its final beta test on the Royal Shakespeare Company’s For Every Passion Something during their Educational Residency at Davidson College. The show was directed by Gemma Fairlie. Scenic Video elements were designed by James Nash, Davidson College’s Technical Director and Brian Creech, a Davidson student.
“The Panorama server made the director’s vision possible,” says Nash. ” We had very little time for setup and tech, the imagery that was being projected onto the cyclorama played a major part in the scenic design.
“We were able to load our media onto the server and control it via DMX from our Expression 3 lighting desk. It gave Gemma the chance to look at various options before deciding on the final looks. Panorama made the process much easier than we expected.”
The Panorama line currently includes the PanoRack, a rack-mounted flight-cased unit; the PanoBook, a highly mobile notebook-based server, and the PanoBox I/O, an interface box designed to extend the capabilities of the ArKaos software when used on a standard computer.
