Elation Professional has designed an ultra-bright LED color changer so small and compact it looks like a little pod. Great for generating a lot of light where space is at a premium, the company’s new high-output Design LED 36 uses advanced RGB color mixing technology and a 39º beam angle to cover wide stage areas with brilliant washes of color at short range.
The Design LED 36 harnesses the power of 36 long-life Luxeon colored LEDs (12 red, 12 green, 12 blue) to illuminate and highlight stage sets and performers from a distance of about 25’ or less. It offers four channels of DMX operation, so lighting directors can mix colors and fine-tune their intensity on the fly like a true pro.
Small enough to fit into standard 12” box trussing, these color changers can be used as truss warmers or mounted separately on their own. The fixtures also feature a special bracket design that allows them to be easily mounted on the floor and used as uplighting.

RBG color mixing lets you use the Design LED 36 to summon virtually any color imaginable, making it easy to design customized hues capable of setting a particular mood or highlighting any object or event.
Other practical features of the Design LED 36 include a 3-pin XLR serial data connection, built-in power supply, on/off power switch (120V, 60 Hz), 12-position binary dip switch, master/slave auto program, and sound activation trigger.
In addition to stage and concert use, the Design LED 36 also has architectural applications and can be used for permanent installs. Its 36 colored LEDs and one white LED are rated at 100,000 hours. And since it’s flicker-free, the color changer is always camera-ready and great for video production.
With a list price of $1,199.99, the compact Design LED 36 measures only 8.75" wide by 7" long by 10" high and weighs a mere 9.5 lbs.
