Shure Inc. brought its Microflex wireless microphone system to InfoComm 2013, showcasing what the company calls a versatile and flexible solution for many environments.
According to the company, Microflex combines encryption-equipped boundary, gooseneck, handheld, and hybrid-bodypack microphone options. Shure also offers intelligent rechargeable battery technology and networked charging stations, AES-256 encryption of the wireless transmission, comprehensive control strings for programming third-party interfaces, and browser-based software for complete system control.
Microflex integrates Dante digital audio networking into the wireless access point, allowing users to transport low-latency multichannel audio through a single Ethernet cable.
According to the company, the Microflex system actively scans the available spectrum to coordinate clean, compatible frequencies for every microphone channel. The system also proactively detects and avoids any unexpected interference. Smart lithium-ion rechargeable batteries deliver up to nine hours of continuous use,
Systems are available in four- and eight-channel versions and can be combined to support up to 32 compatible channels in the U.S./Americas or 64 channels in the European Union.
"Microflex Wireless is a perfect choice for sound reinforcement in flexible meeting rooms that need to be reconfigured at a moment's notice," says Erik Vaveris, wireless category director at Shure in a prepared statement."
The system comes with a hybrid bodypack that can be worn in clothing. The bodypack also features a built-in microphone. When you connect a lavalier or head-worn microphone to the bodypack, the built-in microphone will turn off.
Every component of the system can be monitored and controlled over the network. A/V specialists can view the battery status of every microphone either in use or in the charger.
