Control4 Debuts Wireless Lighting Control

Control4 has pretty much conquered every area of automation. They dabble in AV, security, climate control, lighting and more. Now, the company is expanding on one of those offerings and making it better—by making it wireless.

The company just debuted a new collection of Wireless Lighting Control products for use with Control4 systems. The line boasts a new design, customization options, and a variety of features. Control4 also says that each new switch, dimmer, and keypad has an ambient light sensor to automatically adjust the brightness of status LEDs and button backlighting.

Each product also works with Control4’s MyHome app, which doesn’t means you need to have it in your home. However, it does mean that users can control those lighting products via any mobile device.

First up in the new line is the Control4 Wireless Adaptive Phase Dimmer. This option is compatible with a broad range of dimmable load types including most LEDs, incandescents, halogens, electronic low-voltage (solid state) transformers, magnetic (iron core) low-voltage transformers, fluorescents, and compact fluorescents. Available in 120-, 240- and 277-volt options, the product has an MSRP of $180.

Next is the Wireless Configurable Keypad, which can handle lighting, as well as AV, security and more, all for $200. It can be configured with anywhere between two and seven custom-engraved, LED backlit buttons, using four different button sizes, for a total of 37 possible configurations.

The Control4 Wireless Keypad Dimmer can transform any standard light switch or dimmer into something special. It combines the dimming of the Control4 Wireless Adaptive Phase Dimmer with the flexibility of the Control4 Wireless Configurable Keypad, all for $250.

For $190, the Control4 Wireless Fan Speed Controller can deliver fan speed control of standard paddle-type ceiling fans, with four fan speed buttons and an off button. It can also incorporate fan control into Control4 systems for climate control and other automated events.

The Wireless 0-10V Dimmer is just what it sounds like, offering in-wall control of four-wire 0-10V dimmable fluorescent ballasts and LEDs. This option has an MSRP of $190.

The Control4 Wireless Forward Phase Dimmer (MSRP: $140) is an economical solution for dimming forward phase compatible loads, including incandescents, line-voltage halogens, and magnetic transformers. Perfect for dimming high-wattage loads, such as chandeliers and large banks of recessed lights, the Forward Phase Dimmer is also compatible with forward phase dimmable LEDs, CFLs, and fluorescents.

The Wireless Switch can control on/off functions for pretty much every type of load, including LED lights, incandescents, halogens, electronic low-voltage (solid state) transformers, magnetic (iron core) low-voltage transformers, fluorescents, compact fluorescents, and motors, including ceiling fans and bathroom ventilation fans. Priced at $140, it can even be used to switch wall outlets.

Last in the new lineup is the Control4 Auxiliary Keypad, which boasts an economical solution for three-way control of a load for $40. Using a business’ existing in-wall three-way wiring, the Auxiliary Keypad wires directly to any compatible Control4 dimmer, switch, or fan-speed controller.

Control4 is currently taking pre-orders for the entire new Wireless Lighting line, with plans to ship to dealers this June.
