Ipswich, UK — Celestion, the premier manufacturer of professional loudspeakers and compression drivers for sound reinforcement applications, is pleased to introduce the CDX1-1413 25mm (1-inch) exit, neodymium magnet high frequency compression driver.
Designed and developed at Celestion’s headquarters in Ipswich, England, the CDX1-1413 is an ultra-compact threaded variant of the brand’s highly regarded CDX1-1412 driver. The key differentiator of this new unit is the integration of an industry-standard 35mm (1.38-inch) screw-thread fitting. This threaded design provides seamless compatibility with horn flares featuring threaded connections, making it a highly versatile, drop-in solution for sound reinforcement equipment designers.
Despite its remarkably small footprint—measuring just 60mm (2.4 inches) in diameter and weighing a mere 0.4kg (0.9lb)—the CDX1-1413 is a high-output powerhouse. The driver provides 70W continuous power handling (35W AES standard) and delivers an impressive 107dB sensitivity performance over a wide frequency range of 1,500 to 20,000Hz. The recommended minimum crossover frequency for the unit is 2,000Hz (12dB/oct).
To achieve this level of performance in such a compact chassis, the CDX1-1413 features a 34mm (1.4-inch) diameter edgewound copper clad aluminum voice coil paired with a single-piece polyimide film diaphragm and surround, and is fabricated using a highly rigid engineering thermoplastic. Furthermore, acoustic foam is utilized internally to minimize air cavity resonances and damp unwanted reflections from the inside of the cover, ensuring pristine, natural HF audio reproduction.
With its ultra-compact, 60mm (2.4 inch) diameter, form factor, the CDX1-1413 is ideal for installation in small cabinets where internal space is at a premium, or for integration into multiple-driver horns and horn manifolds.
“The CDX1-1413 offers the same exceptional power handling and compact form factor as our successful CDX1-1412, but with the added versatility of a screw-thread fitting,” explains Celestion Global Sales Director, Andy Farrow. “This provides designers with an incredibly compact and lightweight option for highly portable applications and fixed installations where standard threaded horn compatibility is required.”
