Snapchat, Ticketmaster Launch ‘Ticketmatcher Mini’ Discovery Tool For Live Events

Snapchat and Ticketmaster have launched a new way to discover upcoming live entertainment events. The Snapchat app will contain a Snap Map layer that matches users with events based on their indicated preferences, with an ability to swipe left and right on upcoming shows, and even discover events nearby, right where they are already locating their friends.

Ticketmaster EVP, Distributed Commerce Dan Armstrong told XLIVE that working with Snap enabled the company to engage with a new generation of event goers they couldn’t easily reach before. “Discovering a cool show on your Snap Map, and sharing it with your friends via the Tickematcher Mini, provides a whole new way for us to help artists, teams and venues connect with this important demographic,” said Armstrong.

Snapchatters can access the Ticketmatcher Mini through the Rocket Icon in Chat, then take a brief survey to gauge their musical preferences and taste. The app will then show suggested upcoming shows based on those preferences which can be swiped left and right to browse, like a dating app except for events.

Users can see if their friends have matched with the same event, launching a conversation through the Snapchat Camera straight from the Ticketmatcher Mini. Users can even invite their Snapchat Friends, start a guest list via chat or post directly to their story to express their interest — all without leaving the app.

Alex Osborne, Snap’s Group Product Manager, noted the opportunity to introduce the experience in partnership with Ticketmaster. “It’s the perfect way to help our community discover live events, and connect with the people, places, artists and creators they care about out in the real world.”

Through a new Layer on Snap, users can also see upcoming events at nearby venues through a popular feature within Snapchat that reaches more than 250 million users each month. To purchase tickets, Snapchatters will go through a seamless flow directing them to checkout on Ticketmaster.com.

Added Ticketmaster’s Armstrong, “Live events are inherently social and with this partnership we are able to incorporate social connectivity from the very beginning of event discovery to purchase through the experience at the show or game.”

Osborne notes this agreement marks the first time an outside partner has integrated across Snap’s new Map Layer technology and Snap Minis platform.

“We are very excited about delivering this first-of-its-kind experience for Snapchatters in more than 20 countries around the globe,” he concluded.
