AmazeVR has been working on developing immersive music experiences for several years now, but the pandemic has brought these types of digital opportunities to the forefront, and they’re now on the radar of major artists. AmazeVR has officially announced its partnership with rapper Megan Thee Stallion, which Ernest Lee, co-CEO of AmazeVR, referenced in his recent interview with XLIVE.
AmazeVR will be producing a “one-of-a-kind immersive experience” with Megan Thee Stallion, which will be released early next year in select theaters equipped with haptic motion chairs and AmazeVR’s virtual reality headsets, as well as through at-home VR headsets through their app. The theatrical release will be unique when it comes to musical metaverse experiences — no other companies have pursued this route yet.
"Creativity is limitless in the world of virtual reality, which means the concepts and ideas I have can also be limitless," Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement about the announcement. "I am so excited to work with AmazeVR to take my wild ideas and make them into a virtual reality for all my fans to see. Get ready!"
As artists continue to discover the possibilities afforded by the virtual world, these types of experiences will inevitably become more widespread — it may eventually become the norm for artists to promote new music in the digital space as well as through live tours. Virtual experiences also allow for extensive world-building in a way that the real world doesn’t and also allow artists to expand the narratives that they create for fans.
AmazeVR previously raised $9.5 million in April, which it has used in part to build out its teams and expand its proprietary technologies. These high-profile experiences will fundamentally change the music game as they will allow artists to reach millions more fans than they would be able to with live shows alone — which translates into more opportunities for monetization.
"We are putting together a show unlike anything that's been done before,” Lee said in a statement. “It will be an epic, yet personal, performance that allows anyone to feel like they are right there with Megan for a shared experience."
