Elation To Distribute Capture Lighting Design Software

LOS ANGELES – (For Immediate Release)– Elation Professional has entered into an agreement with Capture Visualisation AB, based in Sweden, to distribute the company’s well-established Capture lighting design and documentation software. Available in versions for Windows and Mac OS X, Capture software gives lighting professionals the ability to work in real-time with all elements of their design, providing a streamlined environment for their creativity.

Popular with lighting pros around the globe, Capture software is known for being easy to work with and having a minimal learning curve, allowing users to start designing shows right away.  In fact, when customers were asked to rate the six top brands of lighting design software on a scale of 1 to 5 in two categories -- Learning Curve and Usability -- Capture scored a perfect combined total of 10, while its next closest competitor was rated at 7.

“We are proud to announce our new partnership with Elation!” said Capture Visualisation’s Lasse Berg. “Capture has been around for more than fifteen years, and we have focused our attention on making the best possible lighting design program.  As lighting designers ourselves, we know what users want. A lot of people in the US have downloaded our demo over the years, but being situated in Sweden our product has not achieved its full potential in the US, until now. With an established company that has as a good reputation as Elation, we have found the right partner in the Americas. We are looking forward to a good cooperation!”

“Elation is very pleased and honored to have been chosen to distribute such a high-quality and universally well-regarded product as Capture software,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional.  “We truly believe it will help unleash our customers’ creativity and make them better and more professional at what they do.

“While some are still using napkins for their lighting plots, most of our customers are using various design software programs already, but the learning curves are often long and complicated, and the costs are high,” Loader added.  “Capture gives our customers what they need – it’s easy to use, fast, professional and affordable.  It allows them to lay out and virtually design the lighting, truss system, stage and scenery for their show or installation project, so they can see how it all looks in a 3D environment with our lighting products turned on and plugged in.  You will be amazed at how fast you can get started laying out your next design with Capture.”

With a library of more than 6,000 fixtures from all major lighting manufactures built into Capture software, users can easily create their lighting designs well in advance of their project.  The software can thus be a valuable sales tool, allowing designers to put together “virtual” presentations for their clients so that they can see how the designs will look in a real-life environment.  Once the lights have been set up, users can take Capture to their show to provide a complete visualizer, which can be linked to their lighting console.

Capture software is available in three affordable versions based on users’ needs, and no annual subscription fees are required.  The three versions include:

* Solo version – Allows for connection to any DMX source, real-time lighting design and visualization, working with layers and scenes, creation of custom gobos, customization of wheel and strings, import/export CSV files, 3D mouse support, full fixture library, LED panel visualization, and free software upgrades.

* Basic version – Includes all features in Solo version, with the additional ability to create and print reports and plots.

* Extended version – The complete full version of Capture, it offers the additional features of importing DWG, 3DS and OBJ files; exporting DWG files; video from local files; video from CITP media servers; laser animation laser visualization; DMX controlled cameras; DMX controlled scenery; Kinesys K2 controlled scenery; and creation of Windows.exe movie presentations of a design.
