GEOINT Symposium

The GEOINT Symposium is about technology and is always on the cutting edge of event technology. Attendees and exhibitors from the defense, intelligence and homeland security communities gather to learn from leading experts, share best practices, and uncover the latest developments from government, military and private-sector leaders in geospatial intelligence.

Topping the previous year’s event design is the biggest challenge that the GEOINT Symposium faces each year. USGIF once again called upon their long time partner, Penchant Productions to assemble all the right players. Executive Producer Todd Thompson started the creative process with GEOINT veterans, Travis Reedy and Emile Wolsky.

The theme was “Creating the Innovation Advantage,” and they wanted a global feel to the enviornment. Travis and Emile discussed the potential of projecting onto a borderless circular screen. This became the anchor for the 20ft high by 113ft wide borderless image. The center screen was a 20ft circle that was offset from the other four screens to allow for a backstage entrance. Vertical screens were added to the ends of the surface to support IMAG; that brought presenters to life in a way never experienced before.

The pixel mapping to create the digital artwork for this organic screen was quite the mathematical task. Eric Hagstrom  and Paul Kowzan made sure that the best in the business were part of the pixel process. Steve Lindsay and Jimmy Palasota put together the projection plan that hit the pixel map right on the mark. The load in and set up of this process was smooth due to the planning process of Eric and his team.

Once it was all set up, Travis Reedy called the show, Emile Wolsky painted the canvas and Alford Media Services did the heavy lifting to pull off the execution of another flawless GEOINT Symposium.
