Steven Douglas Lights Hozier's Wasteland, Baby! Tour

In August 2018, Irish singer/songwriter, Hozier, hired lighting designer Steven Douglas to design the show for his Wasteland, Baby! Tour in support of his eponymous second album. Douglas created a layered design of drapes, commissioning Perry Scenic to construct a drape based upon a dilapidated wall in the house where the album artwork was shot. Recently, Douglas transitioned to a video wall design for the festival shows where he could not use the draperies, and for this, he worked closely with ImageCue

The design has been shortlisted for the MA Lighting Club Lighting Award at the 2019 KOI-USA Awards, where Douglas has also been shortlisted for another award, the Elation Award for Stage Lighting for his collaboration with Nick Whitehouse and Cosmo Wilson on Aerosmith's Deuces Are Wild Las Vegas Residency. The winners will be announced at the 2019 KOI-USA Awards ceremony and gala on Friday, November 22 at the The Joint, Hard Rock Hotel, Las Vegas, in conjunction with LDI2019

The day of Hozier's performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, Live Design chatted with Douglas about the design, lighting rig, and how the show design has evolved.
