The 36th annual MTV Video Music Awards marked the first year that the ceremony was held in New Jersey, as well as the first time that it welcomed to the stage a fleet of robots, creating several methodologies to reveal presenters during the live broadcast show.
Creative Director Paul Caslin, Production Designer Julio Jimede, and Art Director Matt Steinbrenner called on Los Angeles-based creative design and production studio, VTProDesign, to help bring the presenter stage to—artificial—life.
