LDI: Cory FitzGerald And Ola Melzig Discuss American Song Contest

In an exclusive session at LDI in Las Vegas on Saturday, November 19, 2022, executive producer Ola Melzig and creative director Cory FitzGerald will take attendees through the rigors of fitting the 67-year-old Eurovision Song Contest format to work with a completely new set of rules in a United States broadcast network. They will walk through what the show entails, how to pull off a live broadcast, and how they achieved dozens of completely different looks for the stage. Get a glimpse into the challenges of broadcasting a live competition on TV in Hollywood and the differences and similarities between designing for live music and television.

Ola Melzig

 

Ola Melzig is a producer, most commonly associated with the Eurovision Song Contest. He has also managed numerous high-profile televised productions including the Nobel Banquet, the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India, and the closing ceremony of the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan. Cory FitzGerald is one of the most widely respected names in show lighting design. He caught the lighting bug at an early age, studied theatre lighting at NYU, and gained valuable experience both on and off Broadway, before establishing his hugely successful career in concert lighting and creative production. His list of clients includes Bruno Mars, Beyoncé, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez, Janet Jackson and Gwen Stefani, among others. He serves as creative producer of the American Song Contest on NBC.
