Prince rocking out to "Purple Rain" in the rain is priceless.

2. Beyoncé, 2013

After the controversy of Beyoncé lip syncing the National Anthem at President Obama's second inauguration, she killed it live at the Super Bowl, silencing any comments about her vocal capabilities. Check out the Project In Focus on this show.

3. Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, P. Diddy, Kid Rock, Jessica Simpson, and Nelly, 2004

Janet's wardrobe malfunction caused a lot of hubbabaloo, so much so that no one remembers that Kid Rock wore the American flag as a poncho.

4. U2, 2002

With America still reeling from 9/11, U2's performance of "Where The Streets Have No Name" while scrolling through the victim's names was the perfect tribute.

5. Madonna, 2012

Madonna made it clear who is pop royalty in this show as she passed the torch to the next generation. Check out the Project In Focus on this halftime show.

6. Paul McCartney, 2005

After Janet's wardrobe malfunction, the Halftime show was played safe with some classic rock from Paul McCartney.

7. Bruno Mars, 2014

Bruno Mars effectively channeled James Brown while the Red Hot Chili Peppers went shirtless in 40 degree weather and didn't play their instruments live. Check out the Project In Focus on this show.

8. Aerosmith, Britney Spears, N'Sync, Nelly & Mary J. Blige, 2001

The stage gets crowded during the rendition of "Walk This Way" featuring the whole line-up.

9. Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, 2009

Bruce tells viewers to "step back from the guacamole dip" and listen. We did.

10. Rolling Stones, 2006

After 40 years, the Stones finally got on the Super Bowl Halftime stage.

11. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, 2008

From one classic hit to the next, Tom Petty did it right.

12. The Who, 2010

The Who rocked atop an awesome stage setup, which resembled a pulsing speaker or spinning record.

13. Diana Ross, 1996

Diana Ross performed in style, going through four costume changes in 12 minutes, and exited in style - in a helicopter to be exact.

14. Shania Twain, Sting, and No Doubt, 2003

Gwen Stefani helped Sting sing "Message In A Bottle."

15. Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, 1999

Stevie Wonder rolled up to the stage in a Rolls Royce, and knocked the performance out of the park - wait, wrong sport.

16. The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, Queen Latifah, Boyz II Men, 1998

Bringing it back to the good ole oldies, The Temptations created a feel-good moment for many at the Super Bowl.

17. The Blues Brothers, James Brown, ZZ Top, 1997

The Halftime Show kicked off with a fake news report that the Elwood Blues escaped from the Illinois State Penitentiary. It's one of those things you can look back on and laugh.

18. Phil Collins, Christina Aguilera, Enrique Iglesias, Toni Braxton, 2000

A Disney-themed production, the performance features beautiful puppet design, and an odd assortment of songs.

19. Tony Bennett, Patti LaBelle, 1995

Disney produced this show, themed "Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye" to promote its new attraction at Disneyland.

20. The Black Eyed Peas, 2011

At first I thought this ranking was a little harsh, but then I watched the video and listened to Fergie sing...
