First-Ever Concert Sound Master Classes At LDI

Live Design's first-ever Concert Sound Master Classes were held last week during LDI, led by creative consultant Mark Johnson, program manager of Show Production at Full Sail University and sponsored by L-Acoustics, Lectrosonics, and Omnisistem.

The three-day event, held concurrently with LDI exhibition days, kicked off at a performance of Sir Elton John's Million Dollar Piano at Caesar's Forum, where a post-show Q+A was held with Matt Herr, John's FOH mixer and Dave Torti, head of audio at Caesar's. Herr also presented a session about the production the following morning.

Additional sessions included "RF System Design," presented by Howard Kaufman from Lectrosonics, "Careers in Concert Sound: An Industry Overview," with FOH veteran David Scheirman, "Behind the Board," with Michael D. Jackson, "High Technology on the Road," presented by Scott Sugden of L-Acoustics, and finally "It's Vegas, Baby," with Kevin Harvey, the Englishman in Las Vegas.
