Nobody would ever accuse Björk of being ordinary. Over the past four decades, the visionary Icelandic artist has built a reputation for crafting bold, experimental works that combine sound, visuals, fashion, and technology in groundbreaking and thrilling new ways. So it was fitting that The Shed, New York City’s radical new cultural center in the Hudson Yards complex, commissioned the artist to create a performance series exploring the venue’s kinetic features, including an 8-million pound “shell” that glides over an open plaza to transform its performance spaces.
